Dental Implants

A permanent solution to tooth loss

Whatever the cause, tooth loss can have severe psychological and physical ramifications for the sufferer, not least in terms of nutrition. But it can also result in profound and traumatic
emotional consequences too. If you find yourself in this situation, then the good news is that dental implants provide a safe and convenient way to replace lost teeth with great-looking results that look and feel like natural teeth.

Dental implants are placed into the jaw bone in order to hold single or multiple spans of teeth. They consist of a titanium screw which has special surface features that allow it to become accepted by the body, and grow in union with the surrounding bone. If the implant placement is successful, it cannot be easily removed. The planning involved in implant treatment therefore needs to be comprehensive and is the cornerstone of successful implant dentistry.

Dentists in general practice will often require further qualifications from their basic BDS degree in order to place implants, but not to restore them. As well as placing crown and bridges onto implants, they can also be used to retain complete and partial dentures.

Make no mistake, dental implants involve complex surgical procedures, but this is an area of dentistry in which we excel.  Indeed, our Clinical Director, Dr David Reaney, is one of a few dentists in General Practice in the UK and Ireland with a Masters Degree in fixed and removable prosthodontics (MClinDent-Prosthodontics(London)). As a result, our reputation is such that much of our work in Dental Implants is done on referral from other Dentists.

In short, you know you are in safe hands with David Reaney Associates.
